We are often too fixated with responding rather than listening. Actors, are you actively listening? Are you hearing what the other person is saying; their struggles/stories/emotions? What aren’t they saying? Listening is a process by which we should aim to UNDERSTAND, not just respond. And sometimes it’s not about sharing our opinion or advice; it’s about hearing the other person. Actors, you will learn so much more by listening than speaking.
Listening = empathy.
Acting and drama = empowerment and acceptance The theatre: a place where everyone is not only welcomed, they are embraced. We are known for our culture of acceptance and empathy. We preach tolerance, educate the world on pressing issues and open the hearts and minds of patrons and participants alike. We are a place where everybody belongs. It’s our continued mission to educate future generations and our sincere hope to effect positive change by immersing ourselves in all aspects of acting and drama.
Do you have an opinion? It’s important to have an opinion but not always vital to share it. Depending on the circumstance, you must assess whether it is important to share your opinion with others, especially if you’re employed as an ACTOR not a CREATIVE.
